We all are doing what we can to aid this disaster, here are some things you can do:
Have Faith - Regardless of your religion, meditation and prayer are empowering, intentional moments. On your own and together in groups, lets remember to visualize a healthy environment free from humanity’s destructive addictions.
- Prayer for the Gulf of Mexico – Dr. Masaru Emoto is the scientist from Japan who has done research and publications about the characteristics of water. Among other things, his research revealed that water physically responds to emotions.
- EMRGNSEE Gulf Response – Yes this really is an EMRG+N+SEE response team request to what is happening in the Gulf and to all our waters around the Earth. We are asking YOU to bring a sealed jar of water from a source of your choice –and we mean anywhere.
- An Unfolding Prophecy – “As the oil gushes forth and the earth’s resources disappear, it may be that we can learn to thrive on subtler and far more powerful forms of energy. Working together, we can guide the world toward its next phase of being – a plateau of intensified consciousness and synchronic coherence, in which conscious evolution becomes both sacred game and participatory art form.”

- BP – Boo…
Write Letters & Sign Petitions – The system has flaws, sure, but it will get worse if we let it! Participate! Influence! Let’s make sure our elected officials know we are watching their every move!
- BioGems – Tell Interior Secretary Salazar to stop BP’s Liberty Project. Don’t let BP create another oil spill disaster, this time in America’s Arctic, home to America’s polar bears. Sign our Petition of Protest to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, urging him to deny BP’s request to drill in Alaska’s Beaufort Sea.
- Oceana – Tell your Senators that you will not let them sacrifice the oceans in the name of climate change.
- EarthJustice – Many letters to send here!
- Audubon Society – More action items that don’t take much time.
- Sierra Club – Tell the prez to stop all offshore drilling.
- Environmental Defense Fund – Tell officials to stop burning the oil on the ocean. There is evidence that sea turtles and other protected species may be victims of sea-surface oil burning, skimming or other practices to control the spill.
Adjust Your Lifestyle – Buy locally, use public transportation, bike, walk and smile ’cause you love it! Mostly be aware of your power as a consumer. Good department stores carry alternatives to plastic like: stainless steel, wood and ceramic.
Give Your Hair - Matter of Trust, has collected hundreds and thousands of pounds of hair and fur. They stuff the hair into large nylon boons which absorb the oil from the water. Unfortunately, BP has not utilized the use of these boons yet (as of May 20th). Call your local barber or hair salon to find out if they are collecting hair.
Give Your Self! – BP has announced giving $40 million in grants to each of the states of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana to help their Governors promote tourism over the coming months. It seems likely that the money will be available sooner than later. If you are licensed to handle hazardous material you may be able to volunteer immediately, call the government’s volunteer hotline at 1-866-448-5816.
Your Cash – There are materials used to clean environmental catastrophes, non-profits are there to use those materials wisely. Here are a few:
- The Audubon Society, which is always concerned with saving and preserving bird species, is taking special donations to help the birds and habitat hit by this oil spill.
- Louisiana Gulf Response
- National Wildlife Federation
- Greater New Orleans Foundation, is assisting locally.
- Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research. This Delaware-based organization was the first to treat an oiled bird in the Gulf.
- Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana was hard at work trying to restore a sustainable, healthy eco-system along the Louisiana coast prior to the spill and has ramped up and re-focused their efforts to deal with the oil damage.
- Nature Conservancy
We thank you for caring.
